About Last Night

What can I say? Sometimes life has a funny way of throwing us curve balls that try to throw us off track. My Saturday evening started off the same as it normally did. I got dressed for church and headed out as I normally do. Service was amazing! After I left church is when my evening got REAL. I was driving my car and it started slowing down as I drove. Then all of a sudden, it cut off as I reached the stop light. I restarted my car and again it shut off. I quickly put on my hazard lights and called my mom and told her what happened. She and my step-dad said they were on their way to come get me. Cars sped by me and I decided to get out of the car and stand in the grass. I started calling roadside assistance when I saw a young man across the street walk towards my direction. He was able to pull my car off the road and onto the shoulder. I thanked him, and he walked back across the street and disappeared into the night.

I called roadside assistance and was advised that the ETA for the tow truck would be about a 90-minute wait. By the time I got off the phone, my parents pulled up and we drove back across the street and parked in the church parking lot. By this time, it was after 8PM. We waited and waited and waited. Around 9PM a man on a bike walked over to my disabled vehicle and looked inside it. My mom honked her horn and flashed her lights to alert the man that we were there. I also got out of the car and called over to the man and he said he was just checking to see if anyone needed help. I told him everything was ok, and he rode off on his bike.

The 90-minute window passed and still there was not a tow trucks in sight. I contacted roadside assistance again and they said that it would be about another 40-minute wait because the tow truck driver was on another job. In the meantime, they would look for another tow truck driver that could get there sooner. Another 30 Minutes passed and nothing. Finally, a little after 10PM a blue dodge charger pulled into the church parking lot and parked three parking spaces away from us. We were unsure as to what was going on. My mom started her car and literally seconds later, we saw the tow truck pull up across the street and we drove over there. It’s as though God was right on time. I thank God for his protection and I thank God for family bonding time. Although it was not an ideal situation, God is still good, and I believe he will work everything out. I thank God for protecting us and just being there with us last night. He is amazing!
