Psalm 81

Psalm 81 is amazing! There are a few takeaways that I received from it. #1 God is always there to take the weight off of us. Sometimes it feels like we have the weight of the world on our shoulders; Doing this and doing that or having so many hats that we have to juggle can get tiresome quick, but God is there ready to take that weight off if we allow him. #2 It’s important to remember the times that God came through for us in the past. It doesn’t matter what situation you found yourself in; always remember when God brought you out and how he rescued you.

#3 Don’t worship or put things or people in place of God. You may be thinking; I don’t worship other gods. If you put culture, people, or anything else in God’s place, it can be considered worshiping other gods. Sometimes we do things unintentionally and don’t realize it. Sometimes we may put culture or our traditions before God. We may put our sports teams, kid’s soccer practice before God, and we shouldn’t do those things. Don’t compromise the things of God. Let’s say, for example, your child’s soccer practice is Sunday mornings, you can find a church service on Saturdays to attend. I believe we always win when we put the things of God first.

#4 I think there are times that if we seek after something that is not of God, he will eventually allow us to have our desires. For example, let’s say there’s a relationship that is unhealthy, and God told you to stay out of. I believe if you keep pushing to get into that relationship, God will turn you over to your desires, BUT God is so good that even when you cry out, ask for forgiveness and ask him to get you out of that toxic relationship, he will, and he will welcome you back with open arms.
