Junk Food

Who doesn’t love a good snack? One of my favorite snacks is honey buns, but not just any honey bun. I enjoy Little Debbie Honey buns; It’s just something about their taste. Little Debbie Honey buns are uber-sweet and amazing! I noticed, though, as with most people, when we overeat junk food, we become sluggish. If you’re trying to work out, you may have difficulty keeping up with the pace of others, and overall, junk food is not beneficial for your health. God reminded me that eating junk food is similar to unhealthy behaviors.

Just like when we eat junk food, you may not necessarily notice the change right away, but the more you pay attention to your body, and how you feel after eating certain foods, you’ll be able to pinpoint why you may feel sluggish after eating certain foods. When we participate in gossip or listen to certain types of music that aren’t good for us, we will start to feel uneasy or unsettled in our Spirit; we can pinpoint that it could be the music we listen to. The more we listen or engage in sinful behavior, the more sluggish we become; Our spiritual health will start to decline. Specific language used to bother us, but now we tolerate it because of what we feed ourselves. You may ask yourselves, “How can I become spiritually healthy again?” The good news is there is a way to get your spiritual health back on the incline again. We should repent and, of course, mean it. We should work on our relationship with God and read the Bible, to name a few. When we allow the Bible to get inside of us and spend that one-on-one time with God, we will not want to even reach for that junk stuff.

Keep in mind, though; the enemy will try you and pull you back into the unhealthy lifestyle that God delivered you from; you must be mindful and stay the course. 1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.” If you get off course, repent and ask God to help you. God is not this mean dad waiting for us to mess up so he can crack the whip on us. He truly loves us and desires for us to live our best lives. Romans 8:35,37-39 says, “35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?... 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” I encourage you to draw closer to God and allow him to change you from the inside out.
