Which One Doesn't Belong?
Did you ever play a game as a child called "Which One Doesn't Belong?" If you haven't heard of it, allow me to explain. You are shown a picture of four items, and they are all in the same family. For instance, a card could consist of pear, banana, peach, and a shoe, and you have to guess which one doesn't belong. In this case, the shoe doesn't belong because all the items are fruit. Let's try it. You have a shirt, shorts, socks, and a spoon. Which one doesn't belong? That's right, you guess it! The spoon doesn't belong. I started thinking spiritual. What do we need to allow God to remove in our own lives. Do you perhaps have a friend that's partying, drinking all the time, encouraging you to do things that are against your Christian walk, and has no desire to have a relationship with Christ? A friend that perhaps is not perfect, but prays with you and encourages you, and a friend that invites you to Bible studies and truly is concerned about your relationship with God? Which one doesn't belong? We have to analyze the people in our lives and ask God to remove things and people that are hindering our growth in him. If someone is hindering our growth in Christ, we have to sometimes pray for them and love them from a distance, especially if we tend to get pulled off the right path.
We may also have to analyze behavior patterns that we need God to change, fix or remove in our lives. Have you ever hugged someone, showed them the love of Christ, or cussed them out? Which behavior pattern doesn't belong? You got it; cussing someone out. We've all been there where we have felt that way or even done it, and the good news is that we recognize it, and we ask God to help us change this behavior pattern and help us be more like him. Yes, God knows we aren't perfect; we will have good days and bad days, but the good should outweigh the bad, and although we aren't perfect, we should strive to live like Christ daily. I encourage you to do this with every area of your life. Ask God what things, people, or even behaviors don't belong in your life and ask him to help you change these things, and he will.
-Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
-2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
-1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
-Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
-John 3:30
He must increase, but I must decrease.”
-Ephesians 5:1-2
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
