History of 1849

In 2019 I saw the movie Harriet with Cynthia Erivo. Harriet led people to freedom by using the “Underground Railroad.” After I watched that movie, I was left feeling inspired to help lead Christians to freedom. Christ represents freedom. All of our chains(things that have us bound) can be broken through faith in Christ. It is our job as Christ followers to point and show the way to freedom. We have to remind people that they are set free and that they don’t have to live lives full of heartache and pain. This is no gimmick. John 8:36 says, “Therefore, if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.

It is believed that in 1849, Harriet Tubman made her way of escape. “In September 1849, fearful that her owner was trying to sell her, Tubman and two of her brothers briefly escaped, though they didn't make it far. For reasons still unknown, her brothers decided to turn back, forcing Tubman to return with them. A few months later, Tubman set off again, this time on her own, leaving her husband and family behind as she made her way north through Delaware and Pennsylvania…” (Marazani)

OUR LEADERSHIP

1849 was founded in the spring of 2022 by Nydia, Blogger and Podcaster. We all have been at a crossroad where we felt like we needed a change in our lives. Maybe for the last year you have being trying to keep your head above water and survive and now you’re ready to trust in the one that can save you and help you thrive. One of the biblical meanings for number nine is finality. What month and year or year did you realize you and needed a complete change? Maybe this was the year you cried out to God to help you or maybe this was the year you fully surrendered your life to Christ.

I encourage you to remember the date that you decided you needed something new and if you are reading this now and need a change in your life, let today’s date be the date that you mark down in history as a turning point. 1849 is a blog site where you can read encouraging content.
