God Wants You Only

Is it possible to be a gay Christian? As we go through life, things that were once taboo, are now the norm. Things that never really mattered before, are now are a huge deal. I have read posts and articles that disagree with what God's word says.

Some people believe that being a gay Christian is acceptable. The two cannot exist together. That would be similar to calling someone a lustful Christian, an adulterous Christian, or even a Christian thief. All of the titles contradict one another. A Christian is suppose to follow the example of Jesus. Most people, Christian or not, would agree that sleeping with a married person is unacceptable.

Most people won't argue or provide logically reasoning for sleeping with a married person. Homosexuality is different. Some people will provide statistics, charts, graphs, psychology disorders, and expert opinions as to why homosexuality normal.

Most people accept it because they have relatives and or close friends that are gay. Some say that homosexuality is similar to race because a person does not choose either. Sexual orientation cannot be compared to race on the basis that a person does not choose to be born, but rather was chosen by God to be born for a specific purpose. A person cannot be born gay on the basis that homosexuality does not line up with scripture.

Let's take a step back. Maybe a person was born gay, but we must be reborn again. When we accept Jesus as our savior, we are reborn. Our sins do not come with us when our new identity in Christ is established. They are left behind. Our old way of life is gone and we accept a new way of life in Christ. We must realize we cannot make God conform to our standards and way of life. We may tell God, "I'll go to church and read my Bible, but don't touch "this area" of my life Lord. I still want to partake in this thing or continue acting this way." However, It doesn't work that way.

The idea is that once we accept Jesus as our savior, we should strive to be like Jesus everyday. We should strive to follow God's word. God knows we aren't perfect. We will have good days and bad days. We will fall, but we must get back up. If there is something that you are struggling with, pray continually and ask God to deliver you from that thing. We must also be willing to pray for every area of our life.

If we desire to be closer to God, we must starve our flesh and feed our spirit. Our spirit can become ill if we are not praying, reading the bible and spending time with God. When we accept Jesus as our savior, it's not about us anymore. It's about Jesus. It's about a relationship with God.

We should strive to do better because our desire should be to want to please God and not ourselves. Some people say, "Don't judge me" when someone is talking to them about God. "Don't judge me," has been thrown around so loosely. A person is not judgmental if they are simply repeating what God's word says. They are trying to warn you or be helpful because they care. Regardless of what sin it is, sin and God cannot coexist.

We should strive to stay on the narrow path because sin separates us from God. When we sin, we also hurt ourselves because of the long-term repercussions that accompany it. God wants us and not our sin. Our sins do not define who we are. Homosexual does not define you. Thief does not define you. Fornicator does not define you. Lustful does not define you. Gossiper does not define who you are.

Our sins do not define our identity. Our identity is found only in God. God wants us, not our sin. God desires to have a relationship with all of us. Do you want a relationship with God? It will cost you something. You will have to leave your old life behind and pick up a new life in Jesus. Ask God to forgive you of your sins and accept Jesus as your savior. God  welcomes you with open arms. He loves you so very much.
