Her Story Conference 2016

#Her Story Conference 2016

The Her Story conference was about how we as women all have a story to tell. We all have a testimony that we can share with others. Our story is also not completed yet. As we are on this journey, God continues to write out our story. The Her Story Conference was a great opportunity for me to hear God speak to me directly. I learned so many things at this conference. There were a couple of take a-ways that hit home:

#1 Man does not equal completeness: Most of us know a man will not complete us, but yet we continue to look for someone to do so. We draft up lists of this perfect guy that has no flaws, who will bring us happiness, and complete our lives. Where does this notion come from? Hollywood? We see movies that provide us a false sense of hope that when we find prince charming, our lives will be better. “We will be complete.”

We see movies like, “The Notebook” and how these two love birds couldn’t live without each other and defied all odds to be together. “The truth is that is completely false. I was reminded that we can only be complete in God. We must seek God above anything else and he will provide the rest. God is the only one that can complete us. When prince charming does come along, he will add to our life, not complete our life. The only one that can make us truly happy and complete is God. He never fails us and his love his unconditional.

#2 My story is still being written: As we all go through this journey called life, we have both ups and downs. The good, the bad, and the ugly are the things that make up our story. God is the author of our story and he is crafting it out. Although, we may have had a particular set back in our lives, remember, it is all a part of our story.

Sometimes we may wrestle with God, try to take the pen away, and craft out our own stories. We may chase after our fleshly desires that God never intended for us to have. Often times those desires leave us in despair. We then have to go back to God and tell God we’re sorry for trying to do things our way. We think that we know what we want, but in actuality we don’t. God knows what we need and what’s best for us; we just have to trust him.

The question that was posed at the conference is: What is your story? What has God done in your life that you can share with someone else to provide them with hope?
