For God's Glory
I’ve always heard how we should use our gifts for God’s kingdom no matter what our gifts our. Yesterday, I was in service and this rang true for me as I was in worship. One of the singers during worship sang so well and I just felt blessed by his gift. It was as though scripture came to life for me at that moment of worship. “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory and honor to God through Jesus Christ… (1Peter 4:10-11)
I challenge you today to use whatever gift that God has given you. If you enjoy painting, create art and bless someone with it. If you have the gift of organizing help someone organize their closet. You are giving God glory by using your gift that he has given you and you are blessing someone else with your talent.
Do not let the enemy get in your head and tell you that your gift is insignificant because it’s not. God created your gifts and talents specifically for you. I know sometimes society makes it seem that if you are not on a platform singing, preaching, or just being in the limelight that your gift doesn’t matter. That is wrong thinking. Think about an organization such as Bank of America or GMC or any other company. These companies have a variety of people working in different positions to keep the company afloat. There are CEOs all the way to janitors. CEOs are definitely important to keep a company working, but so are janitors. Imagine if there were no janitors. Who would keep the company smelling good and looking clean? Administrators? If there were no admins, who would keep the managers and CEO’s organized? In the same way that a company has many people with a variety of talents to keep it running smoothly, so does the church. Everyone’s gift is important and needed.
