“The God Who Sees”
The Story of Hagar: A Reminder of Divine Presence
The story of Hagar is a powerful story that resonates with many of us. Hagar's journey is a testament to resilience, faith, and the comforting knowledge that we are never truly alone. This story reminds us that no matter where we find ourselves, we are seen and understood. I was reminded a few times this past week of the story of Hagar. No matter where you find yourself today, remember that God sees. He’s knows exactly what you’re going through and he’s always with you and there to help you.
The Encounter in the Desert
In one of the most poignant moments of her story, Hagar finds herself alone in the desert. It is here that she encounters an angel of God, who assures her that she is not forgotten. This divine encounter is where Hagar famously names God "El Roi," which means "The God who sees me."
Reflection
Hagar's story is a profound reminder that no matter where we are or what we are going through, we are seen by God. This can provide immense comfort in times of loneliness and struggle. It also reminds us that we are never truly alone. Whether we face challenges, uncertainties, or moments of despair, we can find solace in the knowledge that we are seen and known.
Scripture
