Blessings In Disguise

I’ve been reading Lysa TerKeurst’s book “Uninvited” and it has so much good information in it. I encourage you to purchase her book “Uninvited.” Today, I read her chapter about the sting of rejection. I believe that when we apply for promotions and apply for different programs and we are not chosen, we can find ourselves letting our emotions get the best of us. For example, let’s say you are knowledgeable in your job, always on time, and always willing to help. Let’s say a senior level position opened up and you applied for it, but someone else was promoted instead. Your natural reaction maybe to get upset and wonder why you were overlooked. Maybe you even put in extra time to beef up your resume. The other person who received the promotion maybe better equipped to handle the job. Maybe the job will require long hours and maybe the job will required you to be away from your family for several days a week. Maybe it may involve a lot of travel and will take you away from ministry. Maybe in a few years that job will no longer be in existence. There can be a slew of reasons for what may happen in the future.

I mentioned earlier that a person maybe better equipped to handle the job. God knows us inside in out because he made us. God knows our breaking points and knows the things that we can handle. God created each of us for a purpose and that promotion may not be apart of where God is taking you. It may appear like a disappointment, but in actuality it’s a blessing. The person that may have received the promotion may need that position for wherever God is taking them. We all have our own purpose and there are certain tools that we must pick up along the way. God will allow things to happen to grow us and help our character. The person that received the senior level position may need those senior level tools because maybe God may have them be in a position of leadership in the church.

You maybe asking yourself how does rejection tie into this? I challenge you to change your mindset. instead of believing that you were rejected, believe that God has a reason for what may seem like a disappointment. Believe that the other person may need the tools necessary from that opportunity. Believe that God will bring the right opportunity for the tools you need in his timing. Maybe you didn’t apply for a position at work, but maybe you applied to a school and received a rejection letter or tried to get into a relationship that didn’t seem to work out. Whether it is a relationship that didn’t work out, a rejection letter from school, or anything that may appear to be a disappointment remember that wherever God is taking you he will bring the right opportunities into your life at the right time. He will bring the right person for you to marry in his timing (If it’s his will for you to marry). It’s ok if that wasn’t the right person for you to marry, the right one will come when it is time. It’s ok if you received a rejection letter from that school or several schools. If it is God’s will for you to enter into that program or get that degree, God will send you an acceptance letter to the right school in his timing.
