The List

When It comes to dating, most people have some list, whether that be mentally or something handwritten. What happens when you meet someone that doesn’t quite match your list? Should you immediately stop talking to them? I believe it’s important to have a list, but leave room for God. What I mean by that is don’t keep God in a box. Let’s say you have a list of ten items that you are believing your future spouse to be, think about which ones are your deal breakers and which ones you are willing to compromise on. Your future spouse will not be perfect and may not meet every quality that is on your list.

You may meet the perfect person, but let say your list says you want them to be 6’4 with hazel eyes, but you meet someone that is 5,’6 with dark brown eyes, and he has every other quality on your list. Should you pass him up? Men: What if you want a woman that is 5’3, long black hair, and fair skin, but you meet a woman that is 5’4, dark-skin, with short black hair. Are you going to pass her up? I am a firm believer in praying and seeking God for wisdom in our decision making. Yes, there will be dealbreakers and it is important to know what they are. You may meet someone that doesn’t have every attribute on your list, and that ok, but that may be the person that God has for you. Be willing to submit your list to the Lord and allow Him to guide you in one of the most important decisions of your life.
