Obedience Brings Blessings
Obedience Brings Blessings
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 says, “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:..”
John 2:5 says, “His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it. 9 When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now. (VS 7-10).
There are countless stories in the Bible when God gave people instructions, and they completed what was told by God and were blessed by their obedience. Yesterday I woke up from a dream and debated whether to say to the person about my dream. I eventually told the person, and they were blessed by what I told them. It was right in line with what they were going through. If God gives you a word for someone, I highly encourage you to say it to that person because you don’t know how that message may impact their life. When I told the person my dream, I, too, was blessed by the conversation we had. It was yet another reminder of how good God is!
The next time you’re in line at the grocery store and feel God speaking to you, tell the person in front of you an encouraging message, tell them. It’s not about how the person receives the message or even what they do after, but your obedience to God. John 2:5 tells us to do whatever he tells you. As you continue to read in John 2, the people tasted the best wine they had ever had. They were blessed by the miracle that Jesus performed. The servants in the story could have doubted and said, “Jesus, are you going to serve these people water instead of wine? They, too, had to have faith and believe that Jesus could perform this miracle. These people who filled the jars with water were blessed as well! They got to witness a miracle! I wonder what they told their friends and family on the ride or walk home.
What message has God been speaking to you? Is there a word that he has told you to give to someone? I encourage you to obey immediately, and I believe you will also be blessed for your obedience to the Lord.
